2026-07-06MABUX: Global bunker market to shift into a slight upward correction on Jul. 06.
The MABUX World Bunker Index — a composite benchmark reflecting daily prices for 380 HSFO, VLSFO, and MGO — showed a slight downward movement on Jul. 03:
380 HSFO: USD/MT: 542.85 (-4.73)
VLSFO: USD/MT: 688.55 (-8.30)
MGO: USD/MT: 1 062.12 (-26.07)
As of Jul. 03, the MABUX Market Differential Index (MDI), which monitors the spread between Market Bunker Prices (MBP) and the MABUX Digital Bunker Benchmark (DBP) — indicated the following trends across the four major global bunkering hubs: Rotterdam, Singapore, Fujairah, and Houston:
• HSFO segment: All four hubs remained undervalued. Discounts widened by $4 in Rotterdam, $11 in Singapore, $9 in Fujairah, and $25 in Houston. Singapore's MDI moved above the $100 threshold once again.
• VLSFO segment: Rotterdam, Singapore, and Fujairah remained overvalued. Premiums narrowed by $15 in Rotterdam, $7 in Singapore, and $58 in Fujairah. Houston continued to be the only undervalued port, with its discount widening by $3. Rotterdam's MDI moved closer to the 100% correlation level between MBP and DBP.
• MGO LS segment: Rotterdam, Singapore, and Houston were undervalued. Discounts narrowed by $10 in Rotterdam, $3 in Singapore, and $9 in Houston. Fujairah stayed overvalued, with its premium unchanged and its MDI remaining below the $100 threshold.
Following the recent decline, the bunker market appears technically oversold and is likely to see a modest upward correction, while the broader price trend remains under pressure amid comfortable fuel availability and subdued crude sentiment. MABUX expects the global bunker market to post a slight rebound on Jul. 06: plus 1-3 USD/MT, VLSFO: plus 1–3 USD/MT, MGO LS: plus 2–5 USD/MT.
