2026-08-06MABUX: Downward trend to prevail in the Global bunker market on Aug. 06.
The MABUX World Bunker Index — a composite benchmark reflecting daily prices for 380 HSFO, VLSFO, and MGO — extended its downward trend on Aug. 05, marking the third consecutive day of declines:
380 HSFO: USD/MT: 583.35 (-24.83)
VLSFO: USD/MT: 757.79 (-23.88)
MGO: USD/MT: 1 271.02 (-55.28)
As of Aug. 05, the MABUX Market Differential Index (MDI), which tracks the spread between Market Bunker Prices (MBP) and the MABUX Digital Bunker Benchmark (DBP), showed the following developments across the four major global bunkering hubs—Rotterdam, Singapore, Fujairah, and Houston:
• HSFO segment: Fujairah remained the only overvalued port in this fuel segment, with its premium widening by a further $25. The other three ports continued to be undervalued. Discount margins narrowed by $13 in Rotterdam, $25 in Singapore, and $11 in Houston. Houston's MDI remained above the $100 threshold.
• VLSFO segment: All four ports continued to be overvalued. Premiums widened by $25 in Rotterdam, $36 in Singapore, $33 in Fujairah, and $3 in Houston. The MDI in both Singapore and Fujairah remained above the $100 mark.
• MGO LS segment: All four ports remained undervalued. Discount margins widened by $10 in Rotterdam and $31 in Houston, while narrowing by $38 in Singapore and $42 in Fujairah. The MDI in Rotterdam and Singapore remained well above the $100 threshold.
MABUX expects Global bunker market to maintain its downward trajectory on Aug. 06: 380 HSFO: minus 3-6 USD/MT, VLSFO: minus 3–8 USD/MT, MGO LS: plus-minus 3–15 USD/MT.
